Excellent game!

This is one of the most epically amazing games ever. The graphics are great. One thing it is missing is a skirmish mode. Overall great game.

Needs some work

Needs a display showing keyboard controls on each screen. Graphics are great!! Wish there was a better explanation of controls or a tutorial. Havent been able to find it if it exists.

battlstation midway

THIS GAME ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Carefull

It is not often I am disappointed with a strategy game but I am this one. The grapics are acceptable, the play action is not. The controls are flakey and confusing. This is my first Feral game and is likely to be my last.

Missing manual, FAQ seems incorrect

The FAQ that ships with this version (1.1) seems incorrect. It says that the game will crash or not work properly on a case-sensitive file system (item #6 in the FAQ that comes with the game.) If this is really true then it should be mentioned before one buys it on the App Store. I havce been playing the game on a case-sensitive file system and so far have not seen crashes, but I wonder... Also, item #8 says that instructions for playing online with other people are in the "prinrted manual" which amazingly enough did come with the version from the Ap store.

Battlestations: Midway

Attention WW II history buffs - you gotta love this game! I felt I got my monys worth gawking at the superb ship and aircraft renderings for the first few hours. I mean, when was the last time youve had the chance to shoot down a Kawanishi Type 97 "Mavis" flying boat?? Hooo Hahhhhhh!!! However, I dont think this game will please everyone to the extent it tickles this particular Pacific Theater geek. Due to the multple facets of game-play and less-than-intuitve controls, its not the kind of game you master in a few hours. Also, some of naration between missions is a bit hoaky. The final word is B.S. Midway is a real keeper for me - a decent shooter, outstanding graphics, and a painless history lesson rolled into one cool game! Enjoy.

problem

the game when i start it only give a black screen and it wont start some help please i download this game on my macbook pro ?

Working Great

First of all game runs fine on my computer never have had an issue. I like strategy games so Im happy with the game play, yes the narration can get long winded but I guess its just a small element. For people having problems you know if you dont read the requirements its all on you. Its spelled out pretty clearly I think....that said Im happy.

Battlestations: Midway

I love this game!!! If you like naval battle games, this game is for you. You can choose to control strategic movement of your forces from a map (like an admiral controlling the fleet) or click on any unit to take direct control of it & fight the enemy. Be sure to do the Single Player "Naval Academy" scenario first, as it will teach you to control the units. One particular thiing to know is to hold down the shift key then click the mouse button (left mouse button if you use a 3-button mouse) to release bombs or torpedoes from aircraft. To see the user manual, on the opening screen select the About tab & click the drop down box next to the "Documentation:" item & then click the "View" button. Theres a slight learning curve to this game, but its well worth it.

great game

The game was great good graphics. now Im not complaining, but it would be cool if you made this game compatible with the ipod touch or the iPhone the other thing is you should put in D-Day

Just OK

The graphics are great and plays smooth. The gametime is so slow. You need to sail or fly for long periods of time to get where the action is. Thats why it gets just an OK rating. Also cant seem to get it to play online. Game just quits. Links to GameRanger which does not send an email to give access.

perfect on my MBA 11

I love it. Great game !!

bargain

a robust and engaging game that rivals the console version

Its fine justs needs a Freeplay Wave Mode

Can u possibly make a freeplay mode???????? Like cause the missions get a little tiring after a while……….. Cause u know that feeling u get when uve completed everything and u just never want to play again?????? ya thats why u should make a freeplay mode…… like where u can land ur plane and all that and + make waves for it that u can start whenever u want + make it with like tanks and other planes and ships and MY FAVORITE THING U SHOULD ADD…… -the landing ships- cause i love it some much when u see all these tiny little boats with a bunch of people inside get put down underwater…………………… :D OTHER THAN THAT GREAT JOB :D!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best Strategy Game Iv Ever played

this game is awesome but the tutorial is a bit long and boring but other than that I give it 5 stars

Keeps freezing

Amazing game….. but it keeps freezing on me in middle of a battle. Its a bummer I get right into it and all of a sudden it just froze and I lose everything and have to reboot on my macbook pro plz fix this, Its a awesome game if it did not freeze I rate this a 5 for sure.

Feedback

The game only focuses on naval and airiel battles. I think that there should be an option to launch troops

This is such an underrated game

I have had ciuntles hours playing with friends in one of the most unique scenarios you can fight in. The days of major shio to ship combat are dead, so why don’t we relish it? I know I’m tired of pounding 15 year olds into the ground in Call of Duty.

Great port, nice graphics, runs well, FUN.

I recently purchased both Battlestations: Midway (M) and Battlestations: Pacific (P). While my separate review of P was not so positive, M is a very fun game which provides a decent experience for historical simulation gamers while providing a nice arcade thrill for those who choose to take control of individual units during battles. The graphics and sounds are outstanding, there is a nice fictional storyline tying the single-player campaign together, the controls are very customizable, it has one of the best tutorials Ive ever seen in any computer game, and it runs really well even with all eye candy turned on with low-end hardware (I have a late-2012 Mac Mini). Feral ported the game from the PC version and did an outstanding job: Ive had zero crashes or other problems and this is not the norm with other games ported by other companies. The only thing I wish Feral had included was the ability to play in windowed mode instead of being stuck in full-screen mode because windowed mode makes it easy to respond to an email or otherwise use other applications with a simple pause of the game rather than having to finish a battle and then quit out of the game to do so – which is the only option in full-screen mode. There are a few ahistorical stats assigned to certain units. For example, Wildcats can out-turn Zeros. Um, no; thats just not right. Interestingly, the descriptive text says that Zeros are more maneuverable while Wildcats are sturdier, and I think that the latter is represented properly in-game but not the former. These sorts of things are not game-breaking but I point them out because the producers of the game could fix this with a simple patch at any time since it involves just changing some of the numerical values assigned to units. I admit this might make the game less balanced (for example, it would make Wildcats less powerful and therefore give more of an advantage to the Japanese player, which is the enemy AI in the single-player campaign) but for an historical simulation aficionado like myself that would be a fair trade. But thats a very minor quibble. I thought it was going to bother me more than it does when Im actually playing the game. Other fudges such as returning planes immediately being repaired and rearmed, infinite range and fuel and gun ammo, etc. really dont weigh against the game at all. Plane range/loiter time WAS a huge tactical factor in WWII Pacific-theater carrier battles and the game might have been made stronger by including this but once you accept that its not a part of the simulation the rest of the game is so immersive that you quickly forget about it. I am very, very bad at controlling the individual units, especially planes. Being an old-school tabletop wargamer (you know, the kind of geek that plays out historical battles and other events on a big map with little cardboard counters stacked all over the place) and now a middle-aged guy with poor hand-eye coordination, the arcade style of play when controlling the individual units is not my thing. But even I enjoy jumping into a plane or a sub now and then when I dont need to give my attention to operational movement and deploying planes. The planes, especially, do not operate according to the laws of physics; its not a flight simulator by any means. But Im sure there are plenty of folks who dont care how accurate the flight characteristics are. Even for me it is certainly fun to line up the crosshairs, press the weapon release, and then follow the bomb you just dropped from your Dauntless as it crashes into the deck of an enemy ship and explodes. For those who want to do the most damage with the least losses, and are good at the arcade aspects of the game, you can get a lot more hits on the enemy and avoid a lot more damage to your own units by jumping in and controlling them yourself whenever your attention isnt being demanded by one of the games broader strokes. Some of the earlier single-player missions require that you take arcade-style control over a unit, but if you dont like that dont worry because you only have to play them once each and theyre generally the shortest and easiest missions in the game. If you are looking at both M and P, I strongly recommend M over P. Theyre both fun games, but P has several basic game design decisions that pretty much ruin the experience for me (ex: torpedoes and bombs just respawn on planes a minute or so after theyre dropped - RIDICULOUS) even though it has better graphics and a lot more scenarios to play in single-player mode. M, for all its inaccuracies and simplification fudges, is otherwise a much better game and well worth a look for anyone interested in the history of the period, the tactics of the WWII Pacific theater, or who just wants to spend 10 minutes to a few hours playing a very, very visually appealing and fun game.

Can’t Move

I was really excited to play this game, however, when ever I try to move forward it simply won’t. Please fix this for a better rating.
